“the occasion was a solemn one, but the Countess arrived rather late, signalling a carelessness of which she was entirely unaware…”

—The Age of Innocence, Edith Wharton

An amazing gown based on the costuming artistry of Gabriella Pescucci, this stunning Two piece 1886 era silk gown can be made custom for you. Lush and extravagant, when designing and crafting a gown of this caliber, no effort is too much…

The polonaise bodice of red silk taffeta (lined with sturdy cotton) has a ruched silk front as well as glass and garnet bead fringe, showcased by a red and black broach. It closes with hook and eyes. The skirt is a hand dyed silk jacquard with sumptuous ruching and pleating. The skirts for this era were cut narrow in front and had trailing hems behind. It has a skirt loop for dancing and a cotton “dust ruffle” underskirt.

The wearing of an appropriate styled corset is recommended, though the bodice is lightly boned. Corset is not included, please inquire if you would like us to build you one.

Please allow for 8-10 weeks for construction, and feel free to ask any questions!

We can recreate this design and color, or build one in whatever color you wish, for the same cost. Changes in design may affect the price and construction time…
